Animal hides (cowhide, lambskin, goatskin, suede, shearling) contain natural lipid oils that keep the leather flexible, water-resistant, and resilient. If cleaned in generic dry cleaning solvents, those essential oils are completely stripped, causing leather to dry out, stiffen, crack, and shrink.
At Sun Cleaners, we use gentle specialized leather cleansers followed by an essential fat-liquor replenishment treatment. We reintroduce micro-fine emollient oils into the hide matrix, re-dying faded areas if necessary and applying a protective water-repellent barrier.
